Johnnie Morton CRUSHED. Lesnar rolls.

Bernard Ackah vs Johnnie Morton – As far as KO’s go, this is nasty. The back story is causing of controversy – mainly should Morton have been in the ring in the first place.

Sports illustrate article: Ex-NFL receiver Morton’s MMA debut doesn’t last long
MSNBC: MMA suspends ex-NFL star Morton after bout

“He (Morton) will not be paid and he is suspended indefinitely,” Garcia said. “He refused on the advice of his agent, whatever that means.” quote from David Avila article, MSNBC.

Brock Lesnar vs. Min Soo Kim – As stated in a previous post, Lesnar rolls over Kim, who taps after hanging on for dear life. Too bad the 7 ft Korean couldn’t fight Brock. At least that would have been a bit more entertaining.

K-1 Dynamite USA: results

Royce GracieRoyce Gracie beats Kazushi Sakuraba – unanimous. Excellent clinches, dirty boxing, knees, kicks, and ground fighting in this one. Fighters show much respect to each other throughout. Technical fight from two classy MMA legends.

Brock Lesnar beats Min Soo Kim – TKO Rd 1. Lesnar shoots and scores a quick takedown. Lesnar passes guard, throws big shots, gets the mount, and then Kim continues to eat fist. Kim taps from the strikes. Lesnar needs a stronger opponent for us to judge whether he can be considered a legit heavyweight.

The Korean giant Hong Man Choi was off the card now due to a medical suspension. Rumors are that Choi has a tumor near his pituitary gland (thanks to Sprawl ‘n Brawl for the heads up)

Tokoro beats Pickett – armbar submission Rd 1. Pickett seems over-matched. He fights off several submission attempts before Tokoro secures the armbar and the tapout victory.

Sik Yoon beats Manhoef – armbar submission Rd 2. Good action in this one. Heavy punches, clinches, and groundwork. Both fighters appear rocked at different times. Yoon gets Manhoef’s back and secures the armbar and the tapout victory.

‘Mighty Mo’ Siliga beats ‘Warpath’ Villareal – TKO Rd 1. ‘Mighty Mo’ Siliga throwing heavy shots early, ‘Warpath’ Villareal lands kicks and tries for takedowns. Villareal attempts to dodge shots but gets crushed with a big left then a big right as he goes down. Ref (Herb Dean) stops the fight.

Ackah beats Morton – KO Rd 1. Former NFL wide receiver Johnnie Morton gets knocked the F out in 38 seconds. After defending off a wild barrage and takedown attempt from Morton, Ackah lands a BOMB, dropping Morton instantly. The doctors had to brace his neck and put him on the board. He did regain movement and consciousness.

Sheilds beats Pariente – rear naked choke Rd 1. Sheilds gets quick takedown, passes guard and lands punches. Pariente defends, spins and eventually gives up his back. Sheilds gets a nice body triangle and works for a rear naked choke. Pariente taps.

Wiezorek beats ‘Big Perm’ Persey – TKO Rd 2. Fight goes back on forth, trading punches and takedowns. Wiezorek gets the takedown, then Persey’s back and UNLOADS on ‘Big Perm’ Persey. Ref (Herb Dean again) stops the fight.

Notables: Dennis Rodman intros the PPV portion and is soundly booed. Rampage Jackson is in the crowd, gets cheers.

Brock Lesnar to fight 7 foot Korean in K-1

Hong Mam ChoiBrock LesnarThis is struck me as bizarre, even for MMA.

Today ESPN’s Mixed Martial Arts section (partnership with Sherdog) posted a loooong article about the apparent ‘comeback’ and fan appeal of Brock Lesnar. After spending a year training with the likes of Pat Miletich and Greg Nelson, he’s ready to make his MMA debut in K-1 against a 7′ 2″ Korean named Hong Mam Choi.

Yes my friends, a 7 foot Korean.

Also on this card, UFC Hall of Famer Royce Gracie is taking on Kazushi Sakuraba (who choked out Rampage Jackson back in 2001). Gracie is 41 and Sakuraba is 38. Both are legends but c’mon, what do they have left to prove.

This battle royal is going down Sat. June 2 in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Here’s the official Dynamite USA!! website. Click if you dare.
